The last UM News Silver Team Show, 12.08.10 from Drew Stanley on Vimeo.
One of the three UM News shows that I directed Fall Semester 2010. UM News is a class that is required for all seniors majoring in Radio/Television Production or Broadcast Journalism. It simulates an actual newsroom, splitting the class up into two teams. Every week, we would be partnered up with a reporter after pitching stories to go out and shoot, script, and edit. The producer and director of the show that week would then meet with our two professors for the class to decide who would get a package on the show and then what stories would be used for VO and VO/SOTs. After we record the show, it would appear on KECI-TV the following day. The Radio/Television and Broadcast Journalism department in the School of Journalism is equipped with a control room, studio, auxiliary studio, and newsroom for students to use. This sort of "real world" experience prepares students for their careers in the best ways possible.
